…JAMB said the free application documents, will be processed through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group.

Abuja, Nigeria – The iNews Times, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that persons with disabilities (PWDs) will be granted free application documents for the 2026/2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The disclosure was contained in JAMB’s weekly bulletin, published on the Board’s official website on Monday.

As part of its sustained inclusion policy, JAMB said the free application documents, as done in previous years, will be processed through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) for eligible candidates with disabilities intending to sit the examination.

The Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, made this known during a meeting with key stakeholders at the Board’s national headquarters in Abuja, where he reiterated the Board’s commitment to the welfare and academic advancement of persons living with disabilities.

According to Prof. Oloyede, beneficiaries of the initiative include, but are not limited to, individuals living with Down syndrome, autism, dyslexia, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

“To support persons living with disabilities, JAMB will issue free application documents to all categories of persons living with disabilities,” the Registrar said.

He explained that for candidates to benefit from the scheme, they must possess a minimum of five O’Level credits obtained in not more than two sittings. He added that audiobooks will be provided to all blind candidates to further enhance accessibility.

Prof. Oloyede noted that the audiobooks are digital adaptations of conventional printed materials and will be made available in widely supported audio formats such as MP3, WMV, and WMA, ensuring compatibility with devices capable of playing audio files.

He stressed that the initiative underscores the Board’s resolve to remove barriers to access and ensure that candidates with disabilities are given equal opportunities to pursue their academic aspirations.

Registration for the 2026/2027 UTME commenced on Monday, January 26, and will close on Saturday, February 28.
