ENUGU, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Security operatives have successfully rescued 12 kidnap victims from Efeche Forest in Ette, located in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State, following a coordinated security operation conducted on Friday, March 6, 2026.
Those freed during the operation include Patrick Eze, Chidinma Eze, Paul Peter, a farmer from Ogugu in Kogi State; Abutu Comfort from Ogugu, Kogi State; Emmanuel Samson from Ogene Ofada, Kogi State; Matthew Onoja from Ette; Akor Emmanuel, also a farmer; Onoja Samuel from Ogene, Kogi State; Omeke Ozoemena from Iyionu, Aguibeje; Peter Friday, 35, from Ogene, Kogi State; Emmanuel Akor, 33, from Ette in Enugu State; and Isiaka Ibrahim, 28, from Ogene, Kogi State.
After the rescue, the victims were taken to a medical facility for examination and treatment. Sources confirmed that they are currently receiving care and are in stable condition.
Security personnel involved in the operation have since intensified efforts to track down the suspected kidnappers, who reportedly fled the forest during the rescue mission.
The successful operation is seen as a major boost in the ongoing fight against kidnapping and other criminal activities in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze North LGA, Hon. Michael Uche Ogalla, warned criminal elements to steer clear of the area, stressing that the council would not tolerate any form of criminality.
Ogalla assured residents that the local government, working closely with security agencies, would continue to strengthen efforts to sustain peace and safety in the community. He also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security operatives with credible information that could help prevent crime.
