ANAMBRA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, arrived at Chinua Achebe Airport on Tuesday for the second-term inauguration of Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo.
A video released by Anambra State New Media confirmed their arrival at the airport.
“Vice President Kashim Shettima and former President Olusegun Obasanjo have arrived at Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri, for Soludo’s second-term inauguration.
“Former President Goodluck Jonathan has also arrived at Chinua Achebe Airport, Umueri, for the event,” the statement read.
The trio had earlier been listed among top dignitaries expected at the ceremony.
Other prominent figures, including elder statesman and former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, were also anticipated at the event.
The inauguration is taking place at the newly refurbished Alex Ekwueme Square, with traditional rulers from all 179 communities in Anambra State, as well as monarchs from across the country, in attendance.
Governor Soludo secured re-election on November 8, 2025, under the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which mobilised supporters from all 326 political wards for the ceremony.
Security has been heightened across the state, with personnel from the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and other agencies deployed to key locations.
The governor and his deputy had concluded their first term on Sunday with an interdenominational thanksgiving service held at the International Convention Centre.
