ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | El-Rufai received condolence visits from former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, as well as ex-governors Aminu Tambuwal and Rotimi Amaechi, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
The former Kaduna State governor was on Friday granted temporary bail by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission to enable him perform the funeral rites of his late mother, who died in Cairo, Egypt, after a period of illness.
Leading a delegation to El-Rufai’s Abuja residence on Saturday, Atiku said the visit was to show solidarity with the family during what he described as a deeply difficult period.
“This evening, I led a delegation on a condolence visit to the family of Mallam El-Rufai… following the irreplaceable loss of a beloved mother,” he posted on his X handle.
The former vice president said he shared in his pain and joined the family in prayers for the repose of the deceased.
He added that he was encouraged by the former governor strength and faith despite the bereavement.
“I was pleased to observe that Mallam remains strong in faith, his spirit unbroken. I encouraged him to be strengthened in faith, for this too shall pass,” Atiku stated, praying that the late matriarch be granted eternal rest.
Similarly, Tambuwal said he visited El-Rufai alongside his team to commiserate with the family over the loss.
He described the death of Hajiya El-Rufai as a deeply personal and irreplaceable loss, noting that they shared in the family’s grief.
“We expressed our deep sympathy and shared in their grief at this difficult time. The loss of a mother is profoundly personal and irreplaceable,” Tambuwal said in a post on X.
He also offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings, grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, and give the family the strength to bear the loss.
