The United States Mission in Nigeria has extended its condolences to the victims of the devastating floods that ravaged Niger State, iNews Times reports.

The iNews Times had reported that the flood disaster resulted in at least 151 deaths and displaced over 3,000 residents.

In a statement released on Monday, the US Mission expressed deep sadness over the disaster, praising the efforts of emergency responders working tirelessly to provide relief.

The floods have triggered a significant humanitarian crisis, with over 260 homes destroyed and key infrastructure damaged, including township roads and major bridges in Mokwa and Raba.

The Niger State Government has appealed for additional federal and international assistance to manage the unfolding crisis.

In response to the disaster, President Bola Tinubu dispatched a high-level delegation to assess the damage and support ongoing relief operations.

The US Mission’s statement reads, “Our hearts are with all those who are grieving the loss of loved ones, displaced by loss of homes and livelihoods, or struggling to find shelter.”

The United States Mission’s condolences underscore the need for global support in addressing the crisis.

As rescue efforts continue, the international community is urged to provide assistance to help alleviate the suffering of those affected by the disaster.
