According to the command, NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel as part of broader efforts to strengthen public safety, prevent criminal activities, and maintain peace across the state during the holiday period.

In this report, we examine the key developments, reactions from stakeholders, and the broader implications.

Background of the Story

Festive seasons in Nigeria are usually accompanied by increased travel activities, commercial movements, and public gatherings, prompting security agencies to heighten operational readiness.

Over the years, the NSCDC and other security bodies have consistently intensified patrols and surveillance operations during major religious and national celebrations to reduce threats to public safety.

Anambra State remains one of the busiest commercial hubs in the South-East, particularly during festive periods when markets, transport routes, and urban centres witness heavy movement.

The latest operation in which NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel reflects growing emphasis on proactive security measures designed to deter criminal elements and reassure residents ahead of the celebrations.

Key Developments

Speaking on the deployment, Maku Olatunde disclosed that personnel involved in the operation were drawn from specialised tactical and operational units within the corps.

These units include the Agro Rangers Squad, Armed Squad, Female Strike Force, Rapid Tactical Squad, Anti-Vandalism Squad, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Disaster Management Unit, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Unit.

According to the commandant, NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel strategically across sensitive areas to strengthen public order, safeguard lives and property, and ensure comprehensive security coverage throughout the festive season.

He explained that Area Commanders and Divisional Officers had been directed to supervise deployed officers effectively while intensifying surveillance and visibility patrols in identified flashpoints.

The command also disclosed that officers would collaborate closely with other security agencies through intelligence gathering and information sharing during the operation.

Maku urged officers and men of the corps to remain professional, vigilant, and fully compliant with Standard Operating Procedures, Rules of Engagement, and Service Orders while carrying out their responsibilities.

He further warned criminal elements and individuals planning to disrupt public peace to stay away from the state during the celebrations.

“Criminal elements, vandals, miscreants, irredentists, unpatriotic citizens, and troublemakers are warned to steer clear of the state, as the Command in collaboration with sister security agencies will not condone any act aimed at undermining the peace currently enjoyed in Anambra State,” he warned.

The commandant also appealed to residents to remain security conscious and report suspicious persons, movements, or objects through designated emergency lines or nearby NSCDC offices.

Reactions from Stakeholders

Residents and business operators reacting to the development welcomed the move in which NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel, describing it as necessary considering the increased activities expected during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Some transport operators expressed optimism that intensified patrols and security visibility would help discourage criminal activities along major roads and crowded areas.

Security analysts also praised the inclusion of specialised tactical units in the operation, noting that such deployments could improve rapid response and emergency intervention capabilities.

Community leaders meanwhile urged residents to cooperate fully with security agencies and avoid actions capable of disrupting public peace during the festivities.

Implications

The operation in which NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel highlights the increasing importance of preventive security strategies during festive periods in Nigeria.

Analysts believe stronger surveillance and inter-agency cooperation could help reduce incidents of vandalism, theft, and public disturbances often associated with crowded celebrations.

The deployment also reflects broader efforts by security agencies to strengthen public confidence and improve emergency preparedness across strategic locations in Anambra State.

Beyond immediate security concerns, the operation underscores the role of community vigilance and public cooperation in sustaining peace during periods of heightened movement and activities.

What Happens Next

NSCDC officers are expected to continue surveillance, patrols, and emergency response operations throughout the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

Security agencies will also maintain coordinated intelligence gathering and monitoring activities across major flashpoints and strategic public locations.

Authorities are meanwhile likely to review operational outcomes after the festivities to assess the effectiveness of the deployment and identify areas for improvement.

Conclusion

The latest operation in which NSCDC Mobilises 851 Personnel demonstrates the agency’s determination to maintain peace and strengthen security across Anambra State during the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

As residents prepare for the festivities, authorities say continued vigilance, public cooperation, and responsible conduct will remain essential to ensuring a peaceful and incident-free holiday period.
