ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at Nasarawa State University Keffi has warned of possible industrial action if the Nasarawa State government fails to address lingering staff welfare concerns.
Branch chairperson Abdulmumini Loko said the union’s demands include payment of outstanding arrears, implementation of a 40 per cent salary increase, improved funding, and settlement of allowances owed to academic staff.
ASUU also called for the domestication of the contributory pension scheme, timely remittance of pension funds, and enforcement of approved retirement policies for professors.
Loko cautioned that continued neglect could disrupt academic activities, worsen brain drain, and undermine the quality of education, stressing that while the union remains open to dialogue, patience among members is wearing thin.
