Yola, Nigeria — The iNews Times, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area following a renewed outbreak of communal violence that erupted on Sunday evening and continued into Monday.

The directive was contained in a statement signed by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, who confirmed that the governor has ordered immediate deployment of security personnel to affected communities to restore peace and maintain law and order.

According to the statement, Governor Fintiri instructed security agencies to move swiftly into all areas threatened by the clashes and take decisive action to prevent further escalation.

The statement reads in part: “The Adamawa State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Lamurde Local Government Area with immediate effect following a renewed communal clash that broke out on Sunday evening. Signed by Hussaini Hammangabdo, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, security agencies have been directed to move into the area and restore peace and order without delay.”

The government also appealed to residents of Lamurde to remain calm and cooperate fully with security operatives as efforts intensify to stabilize the area and avert additional violence.
