The arrest follows a dramatic rescue operation by local vigilante groups and the police, who stormed Obieze’s compound after the kidnapped girl’s father raised the alarm.

The community had been gripped by fear following the discovery of the bodies, and Obieze’s arrest has brought some relief to the residents.

Obieze, known for his flamboyant lifestyle and money spraying at public events, was reportedly on the run with his four wives before his capture by immigration officers.

The NIS has reaffirmed its commitment to border security and its collaboration with other security agencies to bring perpetrators of crimes to justice.
