ABUJA, NIGERIA — The iNews Times | The Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026 has officially been scheduled for April 28 to April 30, 2026, as the Police Service Commission (PSC), in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), moves forward with the next phase of its nationwide enlistment process for Police Constables.

According to an official statement issued by the Commission, the written examination will be conducted simultaneously across designated centres in all 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The recruitment exercise covers both General Duty and Specialist applicants who successfully passed the earlier physical and credentials screening stages.

Eligibility and Examination Access

Only candidates who met the required benchmarks during the screening exercise are eligible to participate in the Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026, the Commission confirmed.

Qualified applicants are required to log on to the official recruitment portal, www.npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, beginning Friday, April 24, 2026, to print their Examination Invitation Card.

The invitation card will contain essential details, including the candidate’s assigned examination centre, date, and time.

The PSC emphasized that candidates must strictly adhere to the information provided on their invitation cards, as examinations will not be rescheduled for late arrivals or those who appear at incorrect centres.

Mandatory Examination Requirements

The Commission outlined specific items that all candidates must bring to the examination centres.

These include:

  • A writing pen
  • National Identification Number (NIN) slip issued by NIMC, with a clear photograph
  • Printed Examination Invitation Card

Candidates are also required to appear in a standardized dress code consisting of white shorts, white T-shirt, and white canvas shoes.

Officials noted that strict compliance with the dress code is mandatory to ensure uniformity and proper identification during the examination process.

The Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026 is part of a structured selection process designed to strengthen transparency, fairness, and merit-based recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force.

The simultaneous nationwide examination approach is intended to reduce logistical challenges and ensure equal opportunity for all candidates, regardless of geographical location.

Security arrangements are expected to be put in place at all examination centres, with coordination between the PSC, the Nigeria Police Force, and other relevant agencies to ensure a smooth and orderly process.

In its statement, the Police Service Commission issued a strong warning to applicants and members of the public against falling victim to recruitment scams and job racketeering.

The Commission reiterated that the entire Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026 process is completely free of charge.

It stressed that no applicant is required to pay any fee at any stage of the recruitment process.

“The Police Service Commission wishes to clearly state that this recruitment exercise is entirely free. Applicants are warned against any form of financial inducement, job racketeering, or scam attempts,” the statement emphasized.

The Commission further warned that anyone found engaging in fraudulent activities connected to the recruitment process will face the full weight of the law.

Authorities also urged applicants to report any suspicious individuals or groups claiming to offer employment assistance in exchange for money.

Applicants have been advised to rely strictly on official communication channels and the recruitment portal for updates regarding the Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026.

The PSC highlighted that all legitimate information will be published through verified platforms, warning that misinformation circulating on social media should be disregarded.

Candidates were also encouraged to ensure that their National Identification Number (NIN) details are accurate and properly linked, as identification verification will be a key requirement at examination centres.

The Police Service Commission stated that the recruitment exercise reflects its ongoing commitment to building a professional, accountable, and well-trained police force.

Officials noted that merit-based recruitment is essential to strengthening national security and improving public trust in law enforcement institutions.

At The iNews Times, our analysis shows that structured recruitment examinations such as the Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026 are increasingly being used to enhance transparency and reduce irregularities in public service entry processes.

The Commission has assured candidates that all logistics have been finalized to ensure a smooth, fair, and credible examination exercise across the country.

As the examination dates approach, candidates are strongly advised to prepare adequately, adhere strictly to instructions, and avoid reliance on unauthorized sources of information.

The PSC reiterated that discipline, preparedness, and compliance with official guidelines will be key determinants of success in the examination process.

With the Nigeria Police Recruitment Exam 2026 now officially scheduled, thousands of applicants across the country are expected to compete for entry into the Nigeria Police Force, marking a significant step in one of the country’s most competitive recruitment exercises.

The iNews Times will continue to monitor developments as the examination dates approach and provide verified updates for applicants nationwide.
