... Police operatives arrested six suspected kidnappers and rescued three victims
NASARAWA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Police operatives from the Assakio Division, working alongside local vigilantes, have raided kidnappers’ hideouts in Angara and Fadaman Bauna villages in the Lafia East Development Area, resulting in the arrest of six suspected kidnappers and the rescue of three victims—two women and one man.
The victims were rescued unharmed, received immediate medical attention, and were subsequently reunited with their families.
In a statement issued in Lafia, the Public Relations Officer of the Nasarawa State Police Command, SP Ramhan Nansel, said the operation followed a complaint received on January 7, 2026, reporting that armed kidnappers had invaded Angara village, abducted two women, leaving behind an infant and later kidnapped a man from the same community.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, promptly ordered a manhunt for the suspects, which led to their arrest and the successful rescue of the victims.
The command spokesperson added that the suspects have confessed to the crime and, on the commissioner’s directive, have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
The police commissioner reassured residents of Nasarawa State of the command’s continued efforts to combat all forms of criminal activity across the state.
