ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | The Abuja Police have dismantled a kidnapping syndicate after raiding its hideout in Ushafa, rescuing seven abducted victims following a fierce exchange of gunfire.

This was revealed in a statement by the FCT Police Command spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh. According to her, on December 5, 2025, the Command received a distress call reporting that armed men had attacked a community in Ushafa and abducted several residents.

Responding swiftly, a joint security team comprising operatives of the FCT Anti-Kidnapping Unit, the Nigerian Army, and the DSS was deployed to the area on December 6, 2025, where they immediately launched a coordinated search operation.

Guided by credible intelligence, the team tracked the suspects from the outskirts of Mpape through several settlements stretching toward Kagarko LGA in Kaduna State.

Upon sighting the Police operatives, the kidnappers opened fire, triggering a fierce gun battle.

The operatives returned fire with superior force, dislodging the criminals from their camp and rescuing one victim found in their custody.
