Wike Boasts of Making PDP Popular, Knocks Bode George

Wike Says He Made PDP Major Political Party

…”sit down in your house and read your newspapers” – Wike tells Bode George

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that he played a crucial role in making the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) a major political force at both national and state levels.

The iNews Times reports that Wike made the remarks on Monday during his monthly live media chat in Abuja, responding to criticisms from Chief Bode George, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees.

The controversy arose over the sealing of the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja due to unpaid ground rent.

Wike explained that neither he nor the party could pay the rent because the property was not registered in their names.

He advised Bode George to “sit down in your house and read your newspapers” if he had no occupation.

Wike however acknowledged that the PDP gave him a national profile but emphasized that individuals make the party win elections.

He boasted about his efforts in laboring and campaigning for the party, stating, “You are speaking to me, someone who has laboured and campaigned for the party to become the major political force at both state and national levels.”

Wike questioned the PDP’s success in Lagos since 1999, pointing out that the party has struggled in Bode George’s state.

He highlighted the party’s challenges in Lagos, saying, “Ask Bode George who PDP has made popular in Lagos since 1999?”

The minister’s comments have sparked a reaction, with many awaiting Bode George’s response.

The exchange highlights the internal dynamics and criticisms within the PDP, as well as the role of key figures in shaping the party’s fortunes
