‎Wild Elephant Attack Leaves One Dead, Another Missing in Oyo Community  ‎

‎‎OYO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State has confirmed the death of a 45-year-old man, Ibrahim Tijani, following a wild elephant attack in Innayin community.

 

‎According to Police Public Relations Officer Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident occurred on Thursday, April 23, 2026, when the wild elephant reportedly invaded the community, causing panic among residents.

‎A second resident, Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, aged 50, was also reported missing after encountering the same animal, with search efforts still ongoing.

‎

‎Police operatives, working alongside local hunters and vigilantes, recovered the body of the deceased in a nearby bush with injuries consistent with a wildlife attack. His remains have been taken to the General Hospital, Iwere-Ile.

‎

‎The Command stated that it has deployed additional personnel to the area to prevent further casualties and is collaborating with relevant authorities, including the Nigeria National Park Service, to manage the situation safely.

‎

‎Commissioner of Police Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga urged residents to remain calm, avoid the affected area, and report any sightings of the wildlife to security agencies as efforts continue to secure the community.
