…the 2026 UTME Result Slip plays a crucial role in the admission process.

ABUJA, NIGERIA — The iNews Times reports that the 2026 UTME Result Slip has not yet been activated for printing, although the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the first batch of results for candidates who sat the examination.

According to JAMB, candidates can currently check their scores only via SMS, while the official 2026 UTME Result Slip which contains passport photographs and complete subject breakdowns will be made available later on the board’s e-Facility portal.

The development was confirmed by JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement issued Friday night.

Printing Not Yet Activated

Benjamin clarified that while the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results have begun to roll out, the option to print the official result slip remains temporarily disabled.

Candidates who wrote the examination starting Thursday, April 16, can check their performance through JAMB’s designated SMS channels.

He further cautioned candidates against manipulating result messages received from JAMB’s official platforms.

“Candidates are strongly cautioned against manipulating the SMS received from the official platform (55019/66019) to fabricate or alter scores with the intent to mislead others, including parents. Such actions constitute a serious criminal offence,” Benjamin warned.

The board stressed that any attempt to falsify results could lead to prosecution, as tampering with official communications undermines the integrity of the examination system.

2026 UTME Ongoing Nationwide

The 2026 UTME began on April 16 and is scheduled to continue until April 22 at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres nationwide.

The UTME remains Nigeria’s primary entrance examination for candidates seeking admission into universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions. Each year, over one million candidates sit for the examination, making it one of the largest standardized tests in Africa.

Education stakeholders say the early release of results reflects JAMB’s ongoing commitment to improving efficiency through digital systems and enhanced monitoring mechanisms.

How to Check Your 2026 UTME Result via SMS

While waiting for the 2026 UTME Result Slip to be activated for printing, candidates can check their scores using the approved SMS method.

Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Ensure you have at least N50 airtime on the phone number used during your JAMB registration.
  2. Send UTMERESULT (as one word) to 55019 or 66019.
  3. Wait for your result to be delivered via SMS.

Important: The message must be sent from the same phone number linked to your JAMB profile. Using a different number may result in an error or no response.

JAMB emphasized that candidates should rely only on its official SMS channels and avoid third-party platforms promising instant result upgrades or score manipulation.

How to Print 2026 UTME Result Slip (Once Activated)

The 2026 UTME Result Slip is different from the SMS score notification. It contains:

  • Candidate’s passport photograph
  • Full subject scores
  • Registration details
  • Examination centre information
  • Other data required for admission screening

The official result slip will be accessible on JAMB’s e-Facility portal and attracts a fee of N1,500.

Once printing is activated, candidates should follow these steps:

  1. Visit efacility.jamb.gov.ng.
  2. Log in using your registered email address and password.
  3. On your dashboard, click Print Result Slip.
  4. Select Continue with Payment and pay the N1,500 fee.
  5. Choose 2026 as the examination year.
  6. Enter your JAMB registration number.
  7. Download and print your result slip.

Candidates are advised to print multiple copies, as tertiary institutions typically request the official result slip during post-UTME screening and admission clearance.

Important Tips for Candidates

To avoid falling victim to fraudsters, JAMB has issued the following guidance:

  • Use only official JAMB portals: efacility.jamb.gov.ng or portal.jamb.gov.ng.
  • Do not share your login credentials with third parties.
  • Avoid cybercafés or agents promising score “upgrades.”
  • Keep your registration number and profile code confidential.
  • Print and safely store multiple copies of your 2026 UTME Result Slip.

Candidates who forget their password or registered email address can use the “Forgot Password” option on the portal or visit a nearby JAMB office with valid identification and registration details.

Why the Result Slip Matters

Education experts note that the 2026 UTME Result Slip plays a crucial role in the admission process. Beyond showing aggregate scores, it serves as an official verification document during:

  • Post-UTME screening
  • Physical clearance at institutions
  • Scholarship applications
  • Inter-university transfers

Institutions rely on the printed slip to confirm candidate identity and examination authenticity.

As thousands of candidates await the activation of the printing portal, JAMB has assured the public that updates will be communicated through its official channels.
