…urges Ndi Anambra to rely on credible sources for information and to verify facts before sharing.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Anambra State Government has issued a stern warning to citizens and residents to desist from spreading rumours, misinformation, and disinformation, urging them to verify facts and rely only on credible sources.

The caution, delivered by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, came during the 17th meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) held at the Government House Light House, Awka.

According to Dr. Mefor, the directive aims to promote peace and an informed society, particularly as the state approaches the upcoming elections. “Misinformation can destabilise communities and threaten our democracy. We must insist on truth and credible information,” he stressed.

During the same meeting, the Executive Council approved several major infrastructure projects, signalling the Soludo administration’s commitment to improving road networks across the state.

The approvals include:

• Rehabilitation and completion of Amichi–Osumenyi Road by the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency (ARMA) at a cost of ₦670,968,919.05.

• Construction of Ugwuaku–Ibugughu–Osu–Umuchu Road, awarded to Benejaf International Ltd for ₦2,754,734,086.72.

• Construction of St. Stephen–Isiokwe Road, awarded to New Idea Construction Company Nigeria Ltd for ₦1 billion.

Dr. Mefor emphasised that these contracts are subject to strict compliance with the state’s procurement regulations and the agreed terms.

He reiterated the government’s resolve to foster a climate where facts prevail over falsehoods, while accelerating the pace of infrastructural development across Anambra.
