Natasha Akpoti to answer defamatory summon

…as FG accuses Natasha of defamatory remarks targeting Akpabio and Yahaya Bello.

The suspended Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, is set to appear in court on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, over alleged defamatory statement as summoned, reports iNews Times.

The Federal Government had filed criminal charges against Natasha, alleging defamatory statements made during a live television broadcast and a private telephone conversation.

The charges accuse Natasha of making defamatory remarks targeting Senate President Godswill Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.

Specifically, she allegedly claimed that Akpabio and Bello discussed plans to assassinate her during a meeting.

Additionally, she purportedly linked Akpabio to organ harvesting involving the late Iniubong Umoren.

West Idahosa (SAN), the lead counsel for Natasha Akpoti, confirmed her scheduled court appearance, emphasizing that she is a law-abiding citizen who will comply with court directives.

Idahosa expressed uncertainty about whether the Federal Government plans to arraign her on Tuesday, citing a notice of amended charges.

Akpabio, Bello, and four others have been listed as key witnesses in the trial.

The case is expected to proceed with Akpoti-Uduaghan’s defense against the allegations.
