‎…“let me state clearly that I do not trust the Nigeria Police Force’s IGP Monitoring Unit,” Sowore wrote.

‎ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has called for the invitation and questioning of several prominent political figures, including former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Kano State governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS) Yusuf Bichi, and former Attorney-General of the Federation Abubakar Malami over the disappearance and alleged killing of activist Abubakar Idris, popularly known as Dadiyata.

‎

‎Sowore made the demand in a post shared on his verified Facebook page on Saturday, where he expressed strong doubts about the ability of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to conduct an impartial investigation into the case through the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit.

‎

‎He therefore called for the establishment of a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to summon and investigate the former political office holders, alongside a former Inspector-General of Police, in order to uncover the truth surrounding the long-standing case.

‎

‎“Let me state clearly that I do not trust the Nigeria Police Force’s IGP Monitoring Unit to investigate the disappearance and presumed killing of Dadiyata,” Sowore wrote.

‎

‎“They cannot be trusted to impartially investigate high-profile politicians and powerful interests who may be connected to this case. Let there be a judicial commission of inquiry.”

‎

‎Sowore further alleged that the individuals he mentioned should be invited for questioning over possible involvement in the matter.

‎

‎“They must invite Nasir El-Rufai and Kano State former Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, then DSS DG Yusuf Bichi and then IGP, and possibly former AGF Abubakar Malami, SAN, they were involved,” he added.

‎

‎Dadiyata, a lecturer and outspoken social media commentator based in Kaduna State, was abducted from his residence by unidentified persons nearly seven years ago, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

‎

‎Meanwhile, the current Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, on Friday directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Police Monitoring Unit to investigate a petition seeking a probe into allegations linking two senior police officers to Dadiyata’s alleged killing.

‎

‎The petition was submitted by Kano-based lawyer Abba A. Hikima, who urged the police to investigate allegations reportedly made by Muhammad Musa Kamarawa, a former Senior Special Assistant to ex-Zamfara State governor Bello Matawalle.

‎

‎According to the petition, Kamarawa alleged that the officers threatened to kill him “as they killed Dadiyata and Saminu S/Fada Gusau amongst others in my presence at Operations Yaki Kaduna.”

‎

‎The renewed calls for investigation have reignited public attention on the unresolved disappearance of Dadiyata and intensified demands for accountability and transparency in the case.
