OYO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister, Jumoke Akinjide, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, bringing an end to her over two-decade-long membership in the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 30, 2026, and addressed to the Ward 1 Chairman in Ona Ara Local Government Area, Akinjide announced that her exit takes immediate effect.
Akinjide explained that the decision followed a prolonged period of personal reflection, emphasizing that it was not made lightly, especially considering her affiliation with the party since 2001.
“I hereby formally give notice of my resignation as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” she stated, adding that she remains appreciative of the opportunities and relationships built during her time in the party.
She also acknowledged the PDP for providing her a platform for political participation and public service, while wishing the party success in its future endeavors.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports suggest that the former minister may be considering her next political move, with indications that she is already engaging with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
