The iNews Times reports that a dramatic incident unfolded this Sunday morning when an Air Peace flight from the Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri en route to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja experienced a bird strike, causing significant damage to the pilot’s side of the aircraft’s windshield.

The incident occurred shortly after takeoff, prompting the pilot to declare an emergency and execute a safe return to the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Owerri.

According to eyewitnesses and passengers, the bird strike seriously damaged the windshield on the pilot’s side, but fortunately, there were no injuries reported among the passengers or crew members.

One of the passengers, who shared his experience, praised the pilot and Air Peace for their swift decision to return to Owerri, ensuring everyone’s safety.

The iNews Times however gathered that the airline has arranged for a replacement aircraft to transport the affected passengers to Abuja, minimizing disruptions to their travel plans.

This swift action has drawn commendation from aviation experts and the traveling public.

Air Peace in a statement on it’s verified Facebook page confirmed the incident but noted that the airline suffered multiple bird strikes that affected two of it’s planes.

FLIGHT OPERATIONS UPDATE

AIR RETURN DUE TO MULTIPLE BIRD STRIKE

We regret to inform our valued passengers of ongoing flight disruptions across our network today.

Earlier today, Flight P47190 to Port-Harcourt and Flight P47151 to Owerri experienced multiple bird strikes upon arrival and had to make a return to base for safety checks.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and appeal for your patience and understanding as we work diligently to minimize disruptions and resume normal operations as swiftly as possible.
