…preliminary figures from polling units across Anambra’s 21 LGAs show that APGA secured a commanding 422,664 votes.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | Following the conclusion of voting in the Anambra State Governorship Election held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has emerged victorious in all 21 local government areas of the state in what observers describe as a historic landslide victory.

The announcement of results, which began around midnight on Sunday and continued until 6 a.m., was supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, alongside other INEC officials, security personnel, party agents, and accredited journalists.

Preliminary figures from the 5,718 polling units across Anambra’s 21 LGAs show that Soludo’s APGA secured a commanding 422,664 votes, far ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with 99,445 votes, the Labour Party (LP) with 10,505 votes, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which recorded 1,401 votes.

Although INEC has not yet made an official declaration, the margin of victory across all local government areas places Prof. Soludo in an unassailable lead, pending final verification and collation by the state returning officer.

In his strongholds such as Aguata, Njikoka, Awka South, and Onitsha North, Soludo recorded wide margins, consolidating his position as the clear favorite of the electorate. The APC came a distant second in most areas, while the Labour Party and PDP struggled to make any significant impact across the state.

Speaking at the collation center in Awka, the Returning Officer commended the peaceful conduct of the polls and the resilience of election officials who worked overnight to conclude result announcements. “The process was transparent, the figures speak for themselves, and the people of Anambra have clearly expressed their will,” Prof. Omoregie said.

Party agents representing the major political parties were present throughout the collation process and reportedly signed off on most results without objections, an indication of the credibility of the exercise.

As the state awaits INEC’s formal declaration, celebrations have already begun in several APGA-dominated areas, with supporters describing the victory as a “referendum of confidence” in Soludo’s leadership and policies over the past four years.

Observers note that Soludo’s performance across all 21 LGAs marks one of the most decisive election outcomes in the history of Anambra politics, a result likely to shape the political narrative of the South-East in the months ahead.

Summary of Results by Political Party (Statewide Totals):

Total Votes

APGA Prof. Chukwuma C. Soludo 422,664

APC Candidate 99,445

LP Candidate 10,505

PDP Candidate 1,401

Others – Below 1,000 each

INEC is expected to officially declare the winner later today after completing final cross-checks and validation of figures from the 21 LGAs.
