…Emir Bello was the 16th Emir of Gusau.

ABUJA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times reports that the Zamfara State has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Emir of Gusau, His Royal Highness Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who passed away on Friday in Abuja after a prolonged illness. He was 71.

The passing of the traditional ruler was confirmed by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal.

In a statement released shortly after the news broke, Governor Lawal expressed deep sorrow, describing the late monarch as a father figure, confidant, and a pillar of wisdom and stability for the state.

“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau. I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom guides me and other state leaders. May the Almighty Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah,” the governor said.

Appointed in March 2015 following the death of his father, Emir Bello was the 16th Emir of Gusau. His reign spanned over a decade, during which he played a critical role in fostering peace, unity, and cultural preservation across Zamfara State.

The late Emir was widely respected for his dedication to the welfare of his people, as well as his support for government initiatives aimed at improving security and development in the region.

His death marks the end of an era for the Gusau Emirate and leaves a significant void in the state’s traditional and moral leadership.

Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family and the emirate council in due course.
