ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will issue official access codes to political parties on June 26, 2026, enabling them to access the Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the 2027 general election.
According to INEC Chairman, Joash Ojo Amupitan, designated national officers of political parties will use the credentials to upload candidates’ names, personal particulars, and other required documents through the online portal.
Amupitan urged political parties to prepare their ICT teams and ensure submissions are completed within the approved timelines, warning that the portal is fully automated and will close automatically once the submission period expires.
He also called on political parties to intensify voter mobilisation efforts by encouraging eligible Nigerians to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration exercise and collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
The INEC chairman further disclosed that the Commission has appealed recent Federal High Court judgments affecting aspects of its timetable and schedule for the 2027 general election, seeking legal clarity on its constitutional authority to regulate electoral timelines and candidate nominations.
