…Kanu wished “all men and good women of conscience” a Merry Christmas,

SOKOTO, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has sent a Christmas message from Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he is serving a life sentence for terrorism-related convictions.

In the message, shared by Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Kanu wished “all men and good women of conscience” a Merry Christmas, thanked supporters for their prayers, and extended his good wishes for the season and beyond.

Meanwhile, Kanu’s lawyer, Njoku Jude Njoku, continues to challenge the legitimacy of his conviction by Justice James Omotosho, arguing that the judgment was predetermined.

Njoku stated that the most concerning aspect of the ruling was not a mere error of law or oversight of facts, but a deliberate suppression of evidence that had already been admitted in court. He said this converted the judicial process into a “procedural façade.”

According to Njoku, once evidence is admitted, it is binding on the judge. He stressed that judgment must confront and evaluate such evidence, and failing to do so is not neutrality but suppression.

He argued that had Justice Omotosho considered admitted video exhibits involving prominent Nigerians, including Theophilus Danjuma, Governor Hope Uzodimma, and Chief Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, the basis for the IPOB leader conviction would have collapsed. Njoku described the judge’s refusal to evaluate the evidence as deliberate and outcome-driven, aimed solely at securing a conviction.

Njoku also criticized major international media for failing to question why the court ignored defence evidence, saying their silence inadvertently aided what he described as the “laundering of judicial misconduct.”
