ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times | A female operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has died after she was hit and run over by a patrol vehicle during a simulation exercise in Abuja.
NSCDC spokesperson, Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the development on Saturday, describing it as a tragic mishap that occurred during a coordinated show-of-force drill.
“It is a very sad and unfortunate incident. We have lost her,” he stated.
A video circulating online captured the moment the officer was struck as the patrol vehicle made a turn. The vehicle halted shortly after the impact, while fellow officers and bystanders quickly rushed to lift it in a bid to rescue her.
Emergency responders later arrived and evacuated her from the scene, but she was eventually confirmed dead despite efforts to revive her.
