‎…Umeh further insisted that Obi is not the type of politician to beg for political advantage.

‎‎LAGOS, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| Senator Victor Umeh has debunked claims that Peter Obi begged Rotimi Amaechi to step down ahead of the 2027 general elections.

‎

‎Umeh made the clarification during an appearance on the programme “Prime Time” on Arise Television, describing the widely circulated speculation as misleading and disrespectful.

‎According to the lawmaker, Obi’s visit to Amaechi was a strategic and respectful political engagement rather than an act of desperation.

‎

‎“Obi’s visit to Amaechi was a noble one with good intention. You have to talk to your opponent,” he said, adding that portraying the move as a plea was “very condescending.”

‎

‎Umeh further insisted that Obi is not the type of politician to beg for political advantage, noting that Amaechi himself is aware of that.

‎

‎Both Obi and Amaechi are members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and are considered key presidential hopefuls within the party as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape.
