AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has announced plans to construct 30 additional public primary schools across various communities, following a recent report identifying areas in need of educational infrastructure.

The announcement came after Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s landslide re-election victory on November 8, 2025, where he won in all 21 local government areas of the state with 73 per cent of the total votes.

According to a statement issued on Thursday by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the decision was one of several resolutions reached at the 22nd Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) meeting held at the “Light House,” Awka, on Wednesday.

Mefor said the Council reviewed the outcome of the recent governorship election and reaffirmed its commitment to governance driven by measurable value and development.

“The November 8 governorship election served as a hypothesis test,” the statement read. “The Council examined the election, in which Prof. Chukwuma Soludo was decisively re-elected with 73 per cent of the vote, winning in all 21 local government areas. The Council stated that this outcome proves the hypothesis that electoral success results from providing value and development to the people.”

He added that the Council expressed gratitude to Ndi Anambra for their conduct during the polls and pledged to “finish strong” in the ongoing transformation agenda of the Solution Government.

As part of the meeting’s resolutions, the Council adopted the 2026–2028 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, paving the way for the 2026 Annual Budget presentation to the Anambra State House of Assembly. The aim, according to Mefor, is to ensure that the 2026 Appropriations Bill is signed into law by December 31, 2026.

Highlighting the administration’s renewed focus on education, the Council approved the construction of 30 new public primary schools across communities identified as lacking public schools.

“This initiative will deepen the impact of the education programmes of the Solution Government and ensure that every community benefits from the Soludo administration’s free education policy,” Mefor stated.

Earlier, on September 16, the state government had awarded contracts worth ₦43.7 billion for projects covering roads, power, education, and other critical infrastructure. Mefor had then emphasized that projects under Soludo’s administration are awarded strictly based on strategic and economic importance, not political expediency.

He reiterated that the government will not initiate any new project for electoral purposes but will continue to focus on initiatives that enhance living standards and promote sustainable development across Anambra State.

With the latest decision, the Soludo administration appears poised to consolidate its education-driven reforms and deepen its legacy of value-based governance in the state.
