AWKA, NIGERIA — The iNews Times reports that the NYSC swearing-in Anambra ceremony officially commenced the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 orientation exercise as 2,300 prospective corps members took the oath of allegiance ahead of their mandatory one-year national service.
The oath-taking ceremony, which marked the formal beginning of the service year, was held at the National Youth Service Corps https://nysc.gov.ng Permanent Orientation Camp located at Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Unity Permanent Orientation Camp. The event drew government officials, security personnel, traditional leaders, and members of host communities.
A total of 2,300 corps members comprising 1,080 males and 1,220 females were administered the oath of allegiance by Hon. Justice A.O. Nwabunike on behalf of the State Chief Judge, officially binding them to the rules and responsibilities of the NYSC scheme.
Addressing the corps members during the NYSC swearing-in Anambra ceremony, State Coordinator Mrs. Pauline Ojisua urged strict adherence to camp rules, security guidelines, and the core values of the NYSC programme.
She stressed that discipline remains non-negotiable throughout the three-week orientation course and the entire service year.
“The Orientation Course serves as the foundation of the Corps Members’ service year. All camp facilities and programmes have been fully put in place to ensure a smooth, well-organized, and impactful orientation experience,” she said.
Mrs. Ojisua explained that the orientation programme is carefully structured to instill patriotism, unity, teamwork, and leadership qualities in the participants. She added that beyond ceremonial activities, the camp experience is designed to prepare corps members for real-life community engagement and nation-building tasks.
During the NYSC swearing-in Anambra orientation period, corps members will undergo; Military drills and parade training; Physical fitness exercises, Lectures on national integration and civic responsibilities, Social and sporting activities, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training.
According to the State Coordinator, the SAED programme is particularly crucial as it equips corps members with vocational and entrepreneurial skills that promote self-reliance after their service year.
“In addition to discipline and patriotism, we are equipping them with life skills. The SAED initiative ensures that corps members are not only job seekers but potential job creators,” she noted.
Security concerns remain a key focus of NYSC management nationwide, especially in light of broader security challenges across parts of the country. During the NYSC swearing-in Anambra event, Mrs. Ojisua reassured participants that all necessary arrangements had been put in place to guarantee their safety.
She confirmed that security agencies, medical teams, camp officials, and partner organisations have been fully mobilized to ensure effective administration, welfare, and protection throughout the orientation period.
The Coordinator also appreciated the Anambra State Government for its continued support, particularly in providing logistics, welfare, and security for corps members posted to the state.
She acknowledged the NYSC State Governing Board, camp officials, host communities, and members of the media for their consistent collaboration in ensuring a smooth orientation exercise.
