‎…residents disclosed that the deceased was close to completing his NYSC before the fatal incident.

‎BENUE, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Ben Agir Une, has reportedly been killed by a community vigilante group in Benue State after he was allegedly mistaken for a motorcycle thief.

‎

‎The incident was confirmed by Buruku Local Government Chairman Raymond Aondoakura, who described the killing as tragic and unjustifiable.

‎According to him, the attack occurred late Sunday night at Mbajor settlement, near the Buruku Local Government Secretariat, when vigilante members on patrol intercepted the victim on suspicion of theft.

‎

‎Une, who was said to be serving in Gombe State and originally from Tongov in Katsina-Ala LGA, was reportedly unable to identify himself before the situation escalated.

‎

‎He was allegedly beaten severely, slipped into a coma, and later confirmed dead at a hospital.

‎

‎The chairman said those involved in the incident have been arrested and handed over to the police for investigation and prosecution, while vigilante operations in the area have been suspended.

‎

‎Residents disclosed that the deceased was close to completing his national service before the fatal incident occurred.
