…says this is a fallout of nationwide promotion exercise by the FRSC management.

AWKA, NIGERIA – The iNews Times | Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command on Wednesday decorated two senior officers promoted from the rank of Assistant Corps Commander to Deputy Corps Commander.

The two officers were Okolie Martina, Unit Commander RS5.31 Onitsha and Boniface Iyakhemie, Unit Commander RS5.37 Umunze.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the ceremony held at the Unit Command, Awka, Sector Commander, Joyce Alexander attributed the promotion to dedication and hardwork.

She urged them to keep improving on their avowed responsibilities so as not to betray the confidence reposed in them by the Corps.

She said, “This is a fallout of nationwide promotion exercise by the FRSC management. This promotion was purely for senior officers.

“The duo, Unit Commander Onitsha & Umunze are beneficiaries of the exercise. They were promoted from Assistant Corps Commander to Deputy Corps Commander.

“To whom much is given, much is expected, and the reward for hardwork, they say is more work.

“If they’ve been committed to get to this level, that dedication needs to be multiplied. I expect them to positively affect those coming after them.

“For those coming after them, today’s exercise is a clear demonstration that hardwork pays. For us in FRSC, it’s all about career growth. Keep assuming greater responsibilities.”

While congratulating the newly promoted officers, Alexander said she was not surprised at their promotion, having received reasonable motivation.

“When they were about going for the promotion examination, I posted on our platform something that looks like a warning, “if you come back and you’re not promoted, I’ll give you a query.”

“I gave them the reason for that. I told them that my fingers are itching to be removing old ranks and putting new ranks.

“I’m happy I’m scratching those fingers via the decorations today. I’m waiting for more promotions because those of the junior staff are on the way.

“When a mother sees her children growing, she doesn’t have any reason than to be happy. I’m happy that what I issued as a threat has become a reality,” she added.

Responding, Okolie Martina thanked the management for considering them worthy of the promotion, pledging more commitment and dedication to their duties.

“On behalf of my colleagues, we promise not to disappoint you. We appreciate the Corps Marshall and the entire management for providing friendly environment for us to carry out our duty.

“We also thank the Sector Commander for shouting us to this level. It’s only good and caring mothers that shout at their children.

“We also appreciate our colleagues, especially first responders for their support. At least, the usual gridlocks at the Onitsha head bridge has gone. These feats wouldn’t have been possible without them.

“I have no regrets joining the FRSC. It’s been a wonderful family to work with,” she added.
