…the Sallah road safety initiative was aimed at educating motorists, passengers and other road users.

Awka, Nigeria — The iNews Times | The Sallah road safety campaign has received a boost as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command reassured the motoring public of its commitment to ensuring safer roads before, during and after the Sallah celebration.

Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, gave the assurance on Wednesday during a road show and rally organised by the Corps to promote safe road use ahead of the 2026 Sallah celebration.

She explained that the Sallah road safety initiative was aimed at educating motorists, passengers and other road users on the importance of adhering strictly to traffic rules and regulations, with particular emphasis on the dangers of overloading and speeding.

“The rally was carried out across strategic locations in Awka metropolis, including the Awka-Enugu Expressway and major motor parks, with officers and marshals distributing safety flyers and engaging with drivers and passengers,” she said.

She added that the exercise recorded positive responses, as many motorists commended the Corps and pledged to comply with traffic regulations.

Transport union leaders also expressed their readiness to support the Sallah road safety campaign by ensuring discipline and compliance among drivers across the state.

The FRSC boss reiterated that the Command would continue to intensify patrols, enforcement and sensitisation programmes to minimise road crashes and ensure the safety of all road users.

“The Command reassures the motoring public of its commitment to ensuring safer roads before, during and after the Sallah celebration,” she stated.

Stakeholders note that such proactive campaigns are crucial during festive seasons, as increased travel activities often lead to higher risks of accidents if safety measures are not strictly observed.

With the renewed push under the Sallah road safety campaign, authorities are optimistic that improved awareness and compliance will significantly reduce avoidable road crashes and promote safer highways across the state.
