Road Safety in Anambra Starts With You – FRSC Warns

…the event reinforced the FRSC’ commitment to road safety in Anambra.

Onitsha, Anambra State — The iNews Times: The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command, has intensified efforts to promote road safety in Anambra, urging motorists to take personal responsibility for safe travel on highways.

At a recent church outreach at the Life of Faith Gospel Assembly, Onitsha, Sector Commander Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno addressed worshippers on the topic “Getting to Your Destination Safely is in Your Hands.” She emphasized that road traffic crashes are caused by human actions, not supernatural forces, and that adherence to traffic rules is critical to reducing accidents.

Commander Asekhauno advised parents to always secure their children in the back seat, avoid using mobile phones while driving, and refrain from overloading vehicles. She stressed that each motorist plays a vital role in ensuring their safety and that of others on the road.

“The responsibility for safe travel lies entirely with the individual driver. Every decision you make behind the wheel affects your journey,” she said. “Following traffic rules and respecting road signs are not optional, they are life-saving measures designed to prevent accidents.”

The FRSC outreach included interactive sessions and distribution of educational safety flyers. About 200 worshippers attended the program, actively engaging with the Corps Commander and her team on strategies to reduce road crashes across Anambra.

Highlighting the importance of obeying road signs and markings, Asekhauno explained that these guides are designed to alert motorists to potential hazards, control traffic flow, and prevent fatalities. She also encouraged attendees to share safety messages with their communities, extending the reach of the Corps’ road safety campaigns.

The General Overseer of Life of Faith Gospel Assembly, Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Obiora, commended the FRSC for its educational initiatives. He urged members of the congregation to implement the safety advice in their daily travels and prayed for divine protection over the Sector Commander and her team as they perform their duties.

“This kind of education is invaluable,” Bishop Obiora said. “It not only informs but also empowers us to act responsibly on the roads. We thank the FRSC for bringing awareness and practical guidance to our congregation.”

The FRSC has repeatedly highlighted that the majority of road accidents in Anambra State are preventable and often linked to careless driving, distraction, and failure to comply with traffic regulations. The Sector Command continues to deploy awareness campaigns, inspections, and community engagement programs to improve road safety standards across the state.

“Every accident prevented is a life saved,” Commander Asekhauno added. “We appeal to all motorists to take these messages seriously, respect the rules of the road, and prioritize safety above all else.”

The event reinforced the Corps’ commitment to road safety in Anambra, combining education, community involvement, and practical guidance to reduce accidents. With church-based outreach initiatives like this, the FRSC aims to instill a culture of responsible driving that extends from individual drivers to families and communities throughout the state.
