ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, Igbawua stated that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is open to all qualified members who are interested in contesting elective positions, stressing that fairness and transparency will guide its candidate selection process.
He dismissed claims that the ADC was established as a “special-purpose vehicle” for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing the allegation as false and misleading.
“We have consistently denied the suggestion that the ADC is a special-purpose vehicle for Atiku Abubakar; that is not correct,” he said.
Igbawua further noted that since its recent political realignments, the party has not shown preference to any aspirant and remains committed to building a credible platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the party leadership is focused on ensuring equal opportunity for all members, regardless of status or background, to freely contest for any political office.
“The party is prepared to subject all members to fair competition and provide a level playing field for everyone who wishes to contest any position,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing discussions within opposition circles regarding internal leadership influence and possible political alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
