‎…Arewa Youth warned that any attempt by Northern aspirants to enter the 2027 race would be resisted.

‎‎KADUNA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Arewa Youth Assembly (AYA) has declared that Bola Ahmed Tinubu should be allowed to complete an eight-year tenure, urging Northern politicians to refrain from contesting the 2027 presidential election.

‎

‎In a statement issued on Sunday, the Assembly’s Speaker, Mohammed Salihu Danlami, said there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock until May 29, 2031,” emphasizing the need to uphold the informal zoning and rotational presidency arrangement to maintain national unity.

‎The group argued that the North benefitted from a similar political understanding during the tenure of Muhammadu Buhari, noting that his two-term presidency was not significantly challenged by Southern contenders.

‎

‎Arewa Youth warned that any attempt by Northern aspirants to enter the 2027 race would be resisted, describing such moves as a violation of the country’s power-sharing tradition.

‎

‎The Assembly also expressed support for the Tinubu administration’s economic and security policies, citing reforms such as fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification as early signs of recovery in Nigeria’s fiscal outlook.

‎

‎On security, the group commended ongoing efforts to tackle banditry and improve intelligence coordination, while also praising the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for his role in driving reforms.

‎

‎While acknowledging progress, Arewa Youth urged government officials to improve grassroots communication to boost public confidence, stressing that citizens need to be more informed about ongoing reforms.

‎

‎Describing the 2027 election as a referendum on continuity, the group pledged strong support for Tinubu’s re-election, insisting that national unity should take precedence over individual or regional ambitions.
