ABUJA, NIGERIA- The iNews Times| The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has handed over the sum of ₦1,120,000 recovered from a fatal road crash to the family of a deceased motorist, underscoring its commitment to transparency and professionalism.
According to the Corps, the accident occurred on April 11, 2026, at Idu Village along the Gegu–Abaji route, involving a Toyota Corolla and a Volkswagen Golf. The driver of the Volkswagen Golf, Aliyu Mohammed Bala, sustained severe injuries and was later confirmed dead at the hospital.
During the rescue operation carried out by the FRSC Zebra Team, the cash along with other personal belongings was recovered at the scene and properly documented in line with standard procedures.
At a formal event held on April 20, the Corps handed over the recovered money to the deceased’s family. The victim’s elder brother, Bala Yakubu, received the sum in the presence of witnesses and FRSC officials.
The handover was conducted by the Acting Unit Commander, Chief Route Commander Ojonugwa Ejah, alongside other senior officers.
The Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, described the gesture as a reflection of the agency’s ethical standards and accountability, while also extending condolences to the bereaved family and praying for the repose of the deceased.
