…insists Iran can sustain its military operations for as long as necessary, further adding to regional tensions.

Tehran, Iran, The iNews Times | Iran has declared it has no intention of negotiating with the United States, escalating tensions in the Middle East following the death of its supreme leader. Mohammad Mokhber, a senior aide to the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, made the remarks on Wednesday during an interview with state television, insisting Iran can sustain its military operations for as long as necessary, further adding to regional tensions.

Mokhber emphasised the country’s deep mistrust of the United States, saying there is no basis for diplomatic talks. “We will not go into any negotiation with the US. The Americans cannot be trusted. We can continue the war as long as we want,” he said, highlighting the growing tensions between Tehran and Washington.

The statement comes amid preparations for a three-day state funeral for Khamenei, who was killed in US-Israeli strikes. The Islamic Development Coordination Council announced that starting at 10:00 pm (1830 GMT), citizens would be able to pay their final respects at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque in Tehran.

Khamenei, who was 86 at the time of his death, is set to be buried in his hometown of Mashhad in northeastern Iran. The state funeral underscores Iran’s ongoing efforts to honour its late leader while signaling a defiant posture amid rising tensions on the international stage.
